The Dynapac rollers achieve high quality surface finishes through operational features, such as soft starting and stopping that prevents unevenness or cracking in the asphalt layers. This allows even new operators to start and stop without leaving marks. In a panic situation, the machine will drop out of the soft mode and brake immediately, signaling the need for an emergency stop.
The roller uses a powerful, air-cooled, 2-cylinder, 4-stroke Honda gas engine, which produces 20 horsepower. The machine's front drum operates with as much as 4,200 vibrations per minute, while the rear drum is static. The rear drum also is equipped with shock mounts to minimize operator platform vibration. Together with the large drum diameter and drive motors connected in series, it contributes to excellent accessibility and gradeability.
