Winter is quickly approaching. We’ll be skiing in Aspen & Snowmass before we know it, which is always a time of year to enjoy! However, there are always a handful of chores that need attention before we stuff into ski boots, click into bindings, and hit the slopes. Every fall your home deserves some attention to prepare for the cold weather and blowing snow to come. While these projects aren’t difficult, they are very important. Here are three things you need to do to winterize your home before the snow piles up.
First, your gutters demand attention. Have you ever seen those home with icicles ranging from the roof to ground? Those are created by clogged gutters. This project takes nothing more than your time and energy and you’ll be glad you did it. Make sure that water can flow freely throughout the gutters so icicles and ice dams do not form during those frigid winter nights.
Second, you can’t forget to flush the water heater. As materials build up in the bottom of your water heater the unit becomes far less effective. Every water heater has a drain valve on the bottom that if turned will flush out the sediment and particles that have accumulated on the bottom of the heater. This easy chore will get your water heater running at optimal strength.
Last (but not least), a pressure washer is man’s best friend during winterizing projects. Instead of hosing, scrubbing, and soaking, a pressure washer is the most efficient way to check off a handful of projects that are often overlooked. From outdoor furniture and fences to decks and driveways, using a pressure washer to remove grease, mold, dirt, and leaves will save you time and get your home ready for winter.
These annual chores come around every winter and we have everything you need to make the projects easy. If you have already checked them off and are looking for another chore to add to your list before winter, be sure to give us a call at 970-925-3285—we’re full of ideas.
