Having a to-do list of indoor projects that need to be ticked off is an important think for homeowners in Aspen, Basalt, Carbondale, and the rest of mountain towns in Colorado’s Rocky Mountains. You’re not allowed to hibernate just because it’s cold and stormy outside. In fact, winter and spring are important times of the year to check off must-do to-dos.
One project that is important to focus on during the cold months and times of year when the snow is thawing correlates with one room in your home that deserves attention: the bathroom. While knocking down a wall, swapping out bathtubs, adding “his and hers” sinks, and turning that old shower into a state-of-the-art steam shower sound amazing, the truth is that you don’t have to break the bank to spruce up your bathroom. The bathroom(s) in your home should receive some decorative love, just like every other room in your house.
Here are four easy and affordable bathroom projects that will make your bathroom beautiful.
- A framed mirror will do wonders.
Just like the Mona Lisa deserves to be framed, your image in the bathroom mirror should be properly framed. That tired, old bathroom mirror will suddenly look like a piece of art when you devote an hour to a framing that glass that you stare into every morning! - Bring music into the mix.
In all honesty and risking dropping TMI into this post, we spend a lot of time in the bathroom; hence the toilet being dubbed “the throne” in many households. Since we log way too many hours in our bathrooms, we might as well make it fun. Run waterproof speakers into the shower for a morning danceoff with your pants off. Bluetooth speakers make the bathroom concert easy. We are particularly fond of oldies in the morning; starting your day with Sam Cooke, The Temptations, and motown is better than any cup of coffee! - Get rid of that archaic towel rack.
Old chrome towel rack are a dime a dozen, they’re ubiquitous, and there is a way to fix this old-school eye sore. Ditch ‘em. How cool would a coat rack be in place of those lame towel racks? What about hooks at different heights to give a sense of layers and depth? Get rid of the archaic towel rack and get creative! - De-clutter everything.
Tweezers, Q-tips, tooth brushes, lipstick, eyeliner, razors, … The list of little things that clutter everyone’s bathroom goes on and on. So, why not devote a bit of time to artsy ways of de-cluttering? It’s amazing how much a little organization in your bathroom will do for a you. After all, as Benjamin Franklin said, “For every minute spent organizing, an hour is earned.”
